"When I used to live down there, they started making normal A-roads 30's and 50's for some unknown reason until it was leaked that apparently a road with a 30mph speed limit is not classed as a road of priority to be maintained, as its not deemed as a "high-speed" route any more.

It's all about making or saving money under the guise of road safety.

Another of their favourites is to paint a white line about a foot out from the edge of the road. This they then say indicates the new edge of the road. So now they don't have to maintain such a wide section of road and there is rut along the edges of the road that you have to drive into if someone is coming the other way.

They also like to downgrade roads from A roads to B roads as the maintenance requirements are lower on B roads.

i agree on cats eyes,
one my memories of my grand father, who was a civil engineer, was of us walking to end his road and at the junction him explaining to me how cats eyes work and why they are used. yet that same length of road now no longer has cats eyes since they resurfaced it

which party really stands for the motorists? they all tend use the same things like hospitals and education, twos thing as a young single man personally am not that worried about
