Paul will be able to tell you but it looks more like its standard or has some serious problems with it!

Its producing no where near as much power and torque as it should be.

Check the turbo is a RS2 turbo

It should have a blue plate on the opposite side of the turbo outlet marked with the number K24 7200

There's a few on here around Aberdeen, maybe you get presuade one of them to go and have a quick look over it , or persuade the owner to bring it down to Crieff at the end of the month where a few of us could give it a good inspection, it's a few years since I've seen this car in the flesh (last time I saw it on rollers was as at Star about 4/5 years ago, then saw it on Dougs drive before the engine was transformed).

IMHO if you agreed to buy it dependent on the outcome of the RR results then it looks like you've got your result, why, how & when questions are gonna take a wee bit more time/effort to get properly answered.

I thought as much, I guess I was hoping that someone would say that it was switched into economy mode or something!!!

I'll get Stewart to check over all the part numbers and get me some more photos of the engine etc at the weekend. So assuming that all the parts are what they are supoposed to be, what could be causing the engine to be so underpowered?

Boost leaks, spark plugs / coils, N75, MAF, ECU software, vacuum line leaks / blockages, EM leaks... without looking at the car the list is endless . Get the ECU fault codes read to start with and a full boost leak test done, no matter how good you think it is, there's always a little leak here and there If the parts are as you'd expect then it might be worth making an offer and taking it to MRC with the view that it might cost a few £££s to get it tip top. It's almost on the way home anyway so well worth the effort.

                    Thanks for all the replies.

I now have what could be a part number for the turbo, on the intake side are the numbers:
                    GGG3552
                    53261017388 P

I found a post about an "SMS" turbo here: http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthr...hlight=GGG3552

The first number matches exactly and the first half of the second number also matches.

Does this mean that it is an SMS turbo or do I have the wrong numbers?!

                    Thanks
