Of course, with new car manufacture dropping off like a stone, the money to be made in reasonably priced maintenance of older cars should be a large carrot to Audi and any other manufacturer.
NLA has received national press coverage!

This is fantastic
As has been mentioned above we need to keep the momentum going.
I know first hand that the mK1 Golf crowed have very similar problems, there part of VAG after all so Ill let them know.
A convoy to MK to deliver a petition sounds awesome. BRING IT ON

Momentum on the site has slowed somewhat... I've got another photographer coming today for the local paper (over 500,000 in greater Bristol) and there is work going on in the background on the database courtesy of Sonic. Have to hope that some of the motoring press, the monthly mags, get involved on some level. Audi Driver are...
If the VAG boys want to join in then they need to get over to the site and if there's interest we'll give them their own section for sure.Cheers'en, AndyC

has this been flagged to Club Audi, URQ owners club and the like, they both should have a very vested interested in getting attached to NLA. Maybe a letter onto Pistonheads might also galvanise some action>sigpic

I sent my original letter to PH but no reply.
As for the AUdi Forums, I have joined them and have posted up links where appropriate or added my encouragement to the posts already setup by existing NLA members. Need to get some active members of each forum on side really.Cheers'en, AndyC

Hey Rusty, not to be an *** but....
won't Audi AG come down hard on you for using their name on a website without their permission? And with the nature of your site would provoke them even more!
I'm just being the "Devil's Advocate" here and just anticipating what the corporate animals at Audi will do. Not trying to rain on our parade but you must anticipate what they may pull on you in time.

Personally I admire your balls for setting up the site but watch your back Rusty!

Thats why ive not used the audi logo in the design
The logo (both the "audi" bit and audi rings) are trademarked, but they'd really struggle to get anywhere with a pretty generically used name alone - being used by a non-for-profit community.
Either way, coming down on an community of enthusiasts for using their name is going to make their PR even worse!S2Forum.com AdministratorComment

The forum in question is not breaking the trademark rules as it does not offer 'identical or similar goods and services'.
If using the name alone was an issue then every owners club and internet forum would be in breach (including this forum) and that does not just cover car clubs.
Trademaking is all about using names, brands and logos in competitive situations, not about total ownership of the name. Just think about how many products there are called 'esprit' or 'supra' for example. Toyota only have a TM to Supra WRT cars. My company has also Trademarked the word Supra.....for microscopes.
However, that said, logos are viewed differently as they are more unique and can be covered by other rules such as copyright, as well as trademarks so Sonic did the right thing there.
