I ve paid my insurance today, so just wondering how my price compares to other peoples.
as follows:-
any car up to £5000 value
me only or demo drive
with legal protection
only 25% performance vehicles allowed on policy ( although i told company only have 2 cars, one of which is the quattro)
£570 fully comp
i only buy cheap stuff, either dont keep it long or break it up!
trade policy is just so i can get the quattro on the road, with all the mods it would be silly money otherwise
plus like i say, can drive any other cars i ve bought
I paid £236 fully comp however its a classic car policy and I'm limited to 3000 miles, with an option of increasing to 5000 if need be for an extra 50 quid or something. I can see the option being taken before the year is over....
Hey im 24, 3 yrs no claims on my (normal because I previously had classic insurance on other car) s2 policy, fully comp with all protection through elephant and I pay about £650ish. Oh and my girlfriend is on that too but she was an extra £30 and she is 27 with no claims or convictions! I like the idea of being able to drive anything but I will be able to in a year under my policy. I also have insurance on 2 beetles (classic) and mk4 golf gti turbo which is my girlfriends and that costs both of us bout £450? I think!
trade was through and insure, now part of swinton commercial
i give them details as working part time selling cars from home.
they only need to know which is private car ( keepers) and which for sale when you first ask.
its useful if driving some one elses car or buying from ebay etc as you dont have to wait to ring insurance co to get cover, just turn up and drive off.
good for taxing peoples cars too so i m told, but never done that
Mine's with Admiral, fully comp. 25yr old, no points, 4yrs no claim bonus protected, valued at 7k fully declared mods, upto 6k miles per year, all the extras legal, breakdown etc and can drive any other insured car tpo. Garaged at an F* insurance zone which is high risk theft area, civil servant (job title makes a big difference to prices too!) all for £440, not bad all things considered, age, value, area etc. Friends with cheaper Jap stuff pay almost twice the amount I do
Audi 80 S2 Nothelle N300 Avant, 1993, Amethyst Pearl VW/Audi Car Magazine article about this very car
Audi A6 Avant 2.5 TDi, 1995, Arctic Silver (now sold)
BMW E36 325i Coupe, 1993, Diamond Black (now sold)
VW Polo 1.0L 6N, 1998, Red (the missus' car)
Aprilia Rs250 motorbike, 1998, Black (the weekend toy)
sonic thats VERY expensive mate! got mine in at 256 quid everything in and thats with admiral but you have to be careful cause they are terrible if you make a claim had a minor none fault accident and they tried to write if off by claiming it was worth 2250 they asked me what i thought and i said its easily worth 6k and i backed that up with evidence they changed their minds but its taken 3 months so moral of the story guys bewary of admiral insurance!
Yep i was with elephant for the first year (same as admiral) and figured it was worth spending extra money when i moved over my NCB to move to a *better* company - although im sure they're all the same when it comes to a claim!
yeah you are probably right but i do feel that these days you have to shop around cause prices go up and down like a yoyo! i also have 2 other cars i have a 53 plate a4 1.9tdi quattro sport and i pay 400 for it thats for work and its covered for 40000 miles business use and also a range rover and my current insurer tried to put that up by 175 i paid 385 for that which i thought was outstanding the s2 is limited to 8000 miles a year and like someone has pointed out it also depends on your occupation
