    Welcome...

Firstly - all that old shape is the UR quattro... Derived from German term meaning original ('Uber' from memory)

The WR was the first engine type fitted from 1980 onwards - 2144cc 5cyl engine with single camshaft ==> 10 Valves. Had a non water cooled turbo. The WR engined quattro also had first type of quattro gearbox with lockable center & rear differentials. Earliest of the WRs have quad square headlights and analog dashboard. Dunno when digidash came online. Bosch K-Jetronic fuelling and oddball Hitachi ECU for spark mgmt.

MB engine came circa 1987 with water cooled turbo and bigger intercooler. Some other engine refinements such as knock sensors and others that I cannot recall. Other UR gurus on here will know more. Also came with 1st TORSEN center differential - not lockable.

The RR engined quattro came last in 1989 with 2226cc 20V turbo engine and full Bosch Motronic system. Also bigger brakes including vented rears on this machine.
