    Is it S2 or RS2?

    Link

Anyone seen this? The seller seems a bit unsure, any ideas which turbo it is etc.

    Thanks.

Manifold looks S2 to me, and the turbo dont look big enough for an RS2 item. ...could be wrong though.

to me looking very closely at the exhaust manifold in the midle left picture it looks to me a standard s2 manifold just the way the port for number 5 comes up and joins the centre collector under the waste gate also looks yery square where as an rs2 maifold is not at that point plus the turbo looks a bit small for a rs2 unit
but there again i may be totaly wrong.

Bit of a kak description and well chosen part numbers quoted which are in error. MIGHT be fishy... COULD be fine. But smells of S2 application. If anyone is serious then get part numbers off the camshaft pulley or the EX camshaft. That turbo number checks out as S2 though. Still a damn good price for all that if it is serviceable. Check for cracks on collection though before handing over money in full.

I've just checked the part numbers that he's listed in the auction and going by what he's said then this head, manifold and turbo came from an S6 with the AAN engine, certainly not an RS2 or even an S2

Good man I was tempted to have a go at it, now I'm not I'll blow the money on some new front indicators instead.

Looks like a 3B to me, you can see the blanking plug for the distributor is missing and there is a drive gear on the end of the cam to drive it. I beleive the ADU cams did not have this.

ADU and ABY and later AAN intake cams definitely do not have the distributor drive gear. However, 3B and early AANs (to about Feb.92 build dates) do have the drive gear. 3B for obvious reasons but also early AANs because they used a vestigial 'tuna can' "distributor" to house the Hall effects sender, aka Cam position sender.

                          Therefore: Not an ADU head.

Well BRY - if that was you - great bargain - well done - S2 or S6 or whatever... Wrong island loses again - I didn't even bid just in case it was a basket case !

Amazing there was no bidding war on this - even if it needs some little work to make into tip-top condish...
