i know this is a bit off topic, but i just bought my better half A AUDI A3 1,8t quattro sport 180bhp, does anyone know if this has the ko3 turbo or the ko4 turbo?? would it be hard to fit the ko4? and would i see significant gains in bhp??? i need more!!!!!!!!

I think its Ko3 and with a remap they are pretty quick!

It's a KO3 and it probably has the incorrectly named KO3s. Should see around 210-220 with a map on it.

can you fit the k04 to this engine, am i right in thinking the audi tt has the ko4?? its just because a new k04 has come up and its going cheap! is it a straight swap???

K04 isn't a straightforward swap. But obviously it can be done if you have all the bits.
Plenty of beans are available from the little K03, and much quicker power delivery than the K04. Our A3 1.8TqS is a lot more lively than our S3. Much more suited to the twisty Devon lanes.

You'd need the hardware to go with a remap. Basically you'd need S3 or TT225 bits, turbo, manifold injectors, intercooler.

Yeah. I get into trouble switching between the two. K04 plus 6 speed means I have to downshift once or twice to get the thing moving. With the K03 and 5 speed you just squirt and go.
