    New quattro seats

Well me and a mate got bored recently and decided if we could fit the seats from a audi 100 2.8 quattro avant into my 80 avant after seeing what they are like in the 100.

What they look like in the 100

and the ones in my avant, you do not have to do ANY welding and can have the bases done in about 10 mins each side if you have a spare pair of old seats.

These seats cost me £30 a pair, new bases was free from some I have lying around, just need a valet which the car is getting next week to clean them up, they have made a world of difference to the look/feel of the car, well worth it

Oh and just so people know the seats in the audi 100 are still there I didn't break that car just sold it on, these seats came from flea bay, only 2.8 being broken

    They look sweet

I hope they are more comfortable than the stock seats?

Definately they hold you in lovely, why the s2's etc didn't get these instead of the standard quattro script and even the leather is mind boggling.

btw mate might be up soon for some help in fitting heated seat elements i've got some lying around and the cars already wired up for heated seats.

These are the same seats I had in the UrS4, I often wondered if they would fit in an S2 because they are so comfortable yet still hold you much better than the std S2 seats, and they have the pull-out squab for your legs.

you can get the small sections from custom autocraft, what differs with these is if you look the numberplate surround is a complete unit same as the one's on the 90's that people put on avants (i.e. dest) and is a full length unit, i've only ever seen one more car with the unit on.

A set popped up on ebay.de about a week ago for 270 euro's.

That looks great, that my seat issues sorted, now just need to find a set.

Did you take any pictures of what you did or is it self explanitory when you look at the mounts?

I detailed in my audifans thread ("the chipfat express") a bit more about what to do but as long as you get a pair of seats for the bases that are the same style as whats on the seats (some of them have the main support bar going above rather than below) you will be fine.

there is the following to do:

2x clips at the front of the seat on the hindge bit
1x clip on the side without the seat belt buckle bit
2x clips on the other side
1x 17mm nut for the seat belt section

                          and then 3x springs

one small silver one which is easy to remove
then 2x bigger one's for the height adjustment - be carefull as I mentioned in the other thread as i'd rather not hear of how you took out next doors cat/car/kid

then its just swapping them over/repeating on the other seat.

Really are nice seats, hold you in a hell of a lot better than the standard one's. Just got to have the heated seat elements fitted to these.

Any questions give me a shout

Thanks very much, sounds good. I think I am due another browse of your thread anyway

Thanks for the advice on the springs, I have been there before helping a mate put buckets in his honda "we will just let the tension off this spring" as the rail shoots across the room. Funny after, not at the time.

I´m doing the same upgrade with manually operated s6 seats (-97 ) and the recipy shortly is to replace the old b4 subframe to an upgrade seat. But the mentioned removal of 2 (or 4) pcs front clips is not enough because there are also some spot weldings done to the axles that give the seat rise capability at front. See the removable clips in the pic (from s2 seat) :

S2 seat with no height adjustment:

[ Compare how the recaro subframes look:
                              http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showpos...2&postcount=42 ]

                              S2 seat with height adjustment:

So it is at least with s6 seat upgrade. => slightly more work . The only difference in manual subframes with manual height adjustment seems to be that the slider legs at the bottom back of the seat are wider apart. Rest of the mechanism is the same in quick check.

Otherwise it seems to be very straight forward upgrade of excellent manually operated audi original later model sport seats that are about 5 to 7 cm higher (compared to s2 seat) giving better back support at top. The s6+ headrests are not like the s2 originals, but like in b5 s4. The upgrade sport seats are ~ as heavy as the old manual s2 sport seats, but much lighter than the electrical seats of rs2. The new seat area bottom is the same (like in S2 or s4....) but with adjustable leg support, which is also in ETKA for later model S2.

Same upgrade recipy is most probably valid with sport seats from S4/s6/s6+/v8 /a200 20v having (light) manual sport seats and with the manual height adjustment.

Thanks to Acidburn for the great upgrade idea for a longer driver ! The long thread:

The S8 recaro leder alcatara seats thread:

Some example picture of manual S6 front seats that fit to s2 avant when manual subframes changed. (S6 Rear seats do not fit to S2 avant....)
                              http://www.totsteile.ch/gebrauchttei...eders6limo.htm.

These otherwise nice looking front seats have the electrical adjustments and are too heavy (quite close to S8 seats) :
