    Noel,

Get his insurance details and report the accident to his insurance company. They'll then be in touch with him to get him to fill in an accident report form ? - Might be a way forward ?

I presume you have the details of the person in the police it was reported to ?

Preserve, you'll get the better of it in the end.

For next time, always have a cheap digital camera in the car just for such incidents, applies to everyone.

    Best wishes and kind regards.

I hope you take the F. U. C. K. E. R. To the cleaners, my apologies to forum admins for swearing but the taxi driver needs the book thrown at him. IMHO!!!

        Not good mate
Hope you get it all sorted..

If you have the hackney cab no & the guys badge no. get on to the council and explain to them- by law all cabbies must inform the council of ANY accidents when the cab is driven(working or not) and it has to go for inspection before its allowed back on the road.
        The council can revoke or suspend the drivers badge if there is a complaint- Especially if you may suspect he may allegedy maybe have been drinking:mischeif: nudge;nudge;wink;wink;
If he doesn't admit liability & his badge is suspended then he don't get paid..... So its in his interest to get it sorted asafp.

I used to be a cabbie for my sins

        ......but i'm better now....................

and i think you know how the personal injury claim thing goes...............

.............3k buys a lot of nappies

Jees Noel - what a gypsy ******* ****wit... And the cops didn't breathalise him - FFS - a few seconds earlier and he might have done some serious damage to your 2yr old son. Fair play for getting your thoughts together and stalking after the ****.

Rob, what are these dark arts of which you speak? They sound intriguing

I got a look at his insurance and took everything inc his policy number. i have a camera on my phone but between trying to calm down my son and the pain in my abdomen I stupidly didn't take any photos.

I've informed my insurance company, who will contact his insurance company and the city council I think. That said i'll probably give them a bell myself to see if it has been reported.

Really appreciate the advice lads. I now have my upstairs eighbour, who was working on the roof, as a witness although he just heard the bang, saw me shouting and take off. My mate came out to take my son and saw the damage to the taxi and the old duffer rambling about not realising he'd done it so I don't know if he counts as a witness. There was a neighbour standing outside when the actual event happened but i'm not sure who it was so i'm going to print a few sheets asking for a witness and post them through letterboxes.

I'm just concerned now that the damage will have disappeared quickly and he'll deny everything. Could make it all quite painful. Glad I at least called the fuzz and then called in to complete a report after I got ot of the hospital.

I'm not a big fan of "where there's blame there's a claim" mentality but on this occasion i'm having a bit of a sh*t time lifting a 2 year old and/or a newborn in a carseat... plus driving and sleeping.

            deep breath noel......

ahhhh..... could have been worse. i'm still walking and my son's ok

            cheers

              Cheers Paul
To be fair the cops weren't as fast as they could have been but I had serious stomach pains and wanted to get to the hospital quickly. In hindsight I wish i'd stayed

I use a company called easi drive. I am an agent for them.
I was more than annoyed at how long it takes for me the repairer to get paid by insurance companies. Also why should you get a corsa to drive around? Do you drive one all the time? NO! Was the accident your fault? No! You should be in a similar car to your large German pride and joy!
I have used them for myself and other customers and had a good out come all times.
When a cretin stuffed my Mustang I got a E class for a month! not good but better than a corsa!!!!
Trust me stop all claims with your insurance! It will go on your record! even though it was not your fault!!!!!!!!!!!

I can fax you the claim form for easi drive.

They sound good Rob. Surprised I've never heard of them. So do you pay them for their services or do they somehow claim their costs back from the other party's insurance? Do they deal with the injury side of things as well
Am I right in thinking that even though this accident wasn't my fault it could appear against my insurance and my premium may be affected.
                  cheers

Thats exatly what will happen, the insurance company just sees the fact you have claimed, regardless who paid out! They will denigh it if you ask them. They have to!
Easi drive pay for your repairs themselves then recoup from the shisters insurance company that hit you.
They also handle your injury claim. Its all very easi! (pardon the pun!) minimum hastle!
All done at no cost to you!

Trust me its THE best way to sort this!
