After watching a gig last night got back to the car and noticed my bumper was 'slightly' ajar.



Turns out someone kindly used my car a parking aid and destroyed all of the bumper mounts.

I took it home in this form...




My weekend plans are now all screwed up not having a car (i didn't want to do loads of miles and discover a stone in my intercooler).

Only good news is she has taken responsibility so i save my no claims. And the courtesy car is a 'like for like' replacement anyone care to guess what they mean by that..... I reckon A4 avant tdi hahaha though i would love to se an S4 turn up.

When something similar happened to my mates B5 S4 avant he got a B7 S4 Avant turn up on his doorstep - you mght be in luck

I used a company called Accident Exchange when some little spotty git in his daddies car hit my Ur, they gave me a new S3 (265bhp) with only 400 miles on the clock. Cost his insurance £250 a day hire charges (I had it 2 weeks) plus the cost of repairs. I'm sure his dad was none too happy.

I missed a trick and said that I didn't mind what hire car I had, still got a brand spanking new Golf GT TDI 170, that was no slouch and 40mpg ish when driven correctly :mischeif:

Well the comapny has screwed it up nicely i sat in all day waiting for a car to not turn up. Sounds like i may get an Alfa 159 which is ok i guess.

159..... Just you wait.... you won't say that in a fortnight when you need a hip replacement....

Gutted for you with the damage, alas been there twice in the last 12 months already... But both times the insurance have come up trumps....

Well like for like apparently means a 1.6 Zafira, I'm worried what this says about my avant......

Absolutely terrible to drive (make my parents Ford galaxy a hoot to drive by comparison) I'm glad i can cycle most place i need to go.

looks like another insurer hasn't got a clue..got their car values from webuycars.com or what ever it's called!!....

IIRC someone had the same problem a while back..might be worth trying a search..

A few of us have had issues with insurers... you'll have to drag it out over a period of weeks. They'll find a car on autotrader for £2.5k and try and fob you off with that... tried to give me £3k for my coupe, aparrently the recent full rebuild and declared mods didn't add anything to the value. Took £3.6k in the end and agreed to remove the "value-less modifications"... they were pissed when the entire front end - engine included - were gone. After some negociation they got a box of old (stock) bits back with the car and I got my money and my engine

Get some print-outs from Autotrader, pistonheads, etc for Avants with similar spec and money and send them on. They seem to look over mods when it comes to value so concentrate on the mileage and leather... I did this, still got the usual "these are only a few overpriced examples" (when there were no other coupe's for sale at the time) but eventually they upped the price 20% and decided to negociate on parts included, as they wouldn't let me have salvage rights.

Stick to you guns, gather loads of evidence, and when they give you crap be ready to give it right back. If they tell you the mods aren't worth anything, say OK that's fine but I'll have them back then... if the car is only worth £2,000 then ask them where their evidence came from and rip it to shreds, and give 5 examples of why your car IS worth £4k...

What sort of sick stupid joke is that ?

Even if the bumper had to be bought from new (and it doesn't really need to be) - and professionally painted I completely fail to see how the price of that would write off the car.

You'd nearly be better to source a bumper from a scrappy yourself, getting it painted and sending the bills to the dosy bint who did the damage... Ahhh but then she 'can't afford it' and has to make an insurance claim which just complicates everyones life - mostly yours as the damaged party. Bloody joke !

Finally got the call today that they agree my car is worth repairing!!!!

Happy day, hopefully it will be on the road again within a couple of weeks.(sadly not for GTI international though)
