    need some advice please..

hi all, ive had my s2 for a few months now, and last week it broke. something to do with the clutch, i took it to a mates garage who had a look at it, and it looks like the clutch needs changing. he also had a nosey around the car and there some other 'issues' as he put it. ill put them ina list to try and simplify my thoughts. just to say the car is a 1991 3b.

1-the clutch drama. how much should it cost to have a clutch changed? initial estimates are about £600 for a standard one, or just over £1100 for a performance one.how much do 6 speed boxes (inc the gubbings to fit it) go for roughly? as i would love a 6 speeder. or do i stay standard?

2-the rear axle mounts are shot. do they still make these, or are there alternatives i could use that are of equivilant or better quality.

3-wishbone bush F N/S. is this just a case of gsf or do i need to dig deeper to find these?

4-TR ends. as above gsf or elsewhere.

5-brake cylinder?! theres something up with either the abs or the brake cylinder, it has travel and judders on the way down. how much am i looking at for replacement brake parts?

the car has been mapped to about 280hp, and i am planning on do more bits and bobs to it. in relation to the clutch: how much power do standard clutches take.
finally im not planning on spending my entire wages on the car, im only 21 and although i love the car i dont want it owing me too much.

anyones advice or pointers towards parts, would be hugely appreciated, and i apologise for such a boring thread!!

    cheers

    Hi Jay,
    1. A standard clutch will be good up to about 380-400 bhp, as long as you are not wanting to launch it all the time. A 6 speed box will go for anywhere between 150-400. You need a different linkage, prop and subframe.
    2. All the rear mounts are still available. I personally would use genuine audi bushes for the wishbones and subframes but tend to be more expensive. There is however proflex polybushes available too.
    3.same as 2. But a front set.
    4.GSF or TPS.
5.For the brakes check first all calipers to make sure they are all free, including the handbrake levers on the calipers. Then bleed them all. That should account for the pedal travel.
    Audi Nut!!!
