    Log book

Was thinking of getting another car taxed but the log books not on my name yet....Do the post office still send off log books to the DVLA if you ask them to do so whilst giving the tax? Or is it a matter of posting off the log book yourself?

    Cheers

Not 100% but im sure you have to just send it off yourself, well the current owner does anyway.

Yeah but last time i did that it took a while for me to get it back, and i need this car on the road quite soon, end of the month perhaps, so just wanted to confirm if they still do what they used to do...

Again dont quote me, but you should be able to drive the car no problem as long as its taxed has MOT and you are insured on it.
Cos you are keeping part of the logbook which shows that you have just bought it and waiting for new logbook.

Could do that i suppose, just post it off and keep the slip for tax. That kind of slipped my mind as i've always taxed a car whilst having the lof on my name, and not just using the slip. Cheers bud

:lol... i think just give in the slip and send it off the whole bit would be fine, if i had a whole month left i would just send the whole thing as per usual to dvla no fuss, but time would have it that it needs to be done soon.

For tax you need insurance certificate and MOT it doesn't matter who's name the car is in.

Also check if you have a local DVLA office as it halves the processing time.
