    Insurance savings.. about time too!

    Hello everyone.

Thought I would let you all know about my insurance savings this week. I have had a quote through from my existing company who I have been with for 4 years, its a big grey animal company... (hint hint, no names). They were quoting me to pay over the year with my girlfriend, ovder £800. Im only 24 with 4 years no claims due to always having classic policies, no points or anything.

Our new link with Sky insurance (correct me if its wrong please) has come up trumps! After doing all the search engines and not getting anything better I have called these guys and fully comp, paying over the yer, with my girlfriend and my 4 years no claims, they have come in at £650 and have offered me discounts for my other car policies when I need to set it up and also have offered her a discount on her renewal too.

Great company to use so far and were really helpful and polite and friendly. If your struggling with quotes, give em a go as it worked for me!

Enjoy life with an S2 for a bit cheaper

Got mine down to £371 on a linited mileage policy, I am 27, teh car gets parked outside and the car does have quite a list of mods, although it's still a stock turbo, which must help.

All not on agreed value beware though!! I was with elephant paying £280 FC for me and the missus, Im 32 with 8 yrs NCB protected, no points, car was insured for 3K, wrote it off, they had it looked at and valued and told me a mint S2 was worth £900 (I said show me where Ill have them all!!), as mine was in good nick have £1200. I battled for 4 months and eventually got £2200, although they then wanted £600 for salvage which I thought was a little steep. Got them down to £550..... My claim was £12K in total as other car involved was an 08 Focus, renewal was double. Swapped to HIC with my new S2 (see my stats for spec) listed all mods, got agreed value at £5K, like for like on mods and gauranteed option for salvage, 5K miles a year SDP for £385.... Pretty happy with that all things considered. Just thought id let all you guys know, really cheap premiums from 'normal' companies will prob mean youll have problems if you ever need to claim!!

I would never, and have never claimed in 20 years of driving. If the car got damaged Id break it, simples!

Yeah. I had an agreed value policy with Greenlight (saved the car) but they refused to re-insure me as I'm currently unemployed

Mad isnt it, suddenly your a risk if you have no job. Crazy I have same issue at mo, in between jobs and cant insure my modded turbo charged Scirocco, purely because of that!!

I must try Sky Insurance and see what they say as my insurance is up at the end of the month, although I doubt they will be able to beat my current quote from a high ranking naval officer (hint hint): -

Me and the missues, not garaged at night (too lazy), fully comp, commuting, all upgrades declared, £150 excess, hire care and legal cover, protected no claims.......£223

Gonna be hard to get that down I suspect unless they want to start paying me to drive

                    Cheers n

I only have 4 yerars no claims as I used to use my 72 beetle daily and was on classic insurance. I say i garage it at night and i only do 8k mileage. Standard car and all..... Its horrible being 24 and insuring fast cars! Saying that my twin brother is paying a shed load more on a 1.8t seat Leon not even a cupra and it IS totally stock!

25yr old, 4 ncb, fully declared, 0 points, garaged, bad postcode area (too close to Manchester and Liverpool) valued at £7k with it being a Nothelle, two named drivers (my parents - it'd save me £120 & then £25 just for putting them on!) and a 'civil servant - clerical' job title, which made a big difference from my previous job description, saving me £120 again!

For a grand total of £440 fully comp, protected ncb, courtesy car, legal, breakdown, windscreen and all the other gubbins you get these days like audio etc.

My advice, if on a website provider, change around the job title to see which ones apply to you and which save the most money. Eg you could work in a flower shop and class yourself as a 'florist', however a 'shop assistant' could save you a few quid without telling any lies

Hang in there, have had mine for 9 years, the original premium I paid at 23 with Budget Insurance on a stock car was........£1150 that was with at the time 4-5yrs no claims and doing 25k a year. Getting past 25 will drop it a good bit, as will adding partner etc etc. Advanced driving and maybe even a tracker will drop that a fair bit more but would need to cover the costs of sticking one on the car obviously.

Whichever way you look at it, its a rip off!
