    How far to go......

    Simple question........

Let's assume you started with a standard Audi S2....

    a) Can someone tell me what 320bhp "feels" like.....
    b) Can someone tell me what 400bhp "feels" like.....
    c) Can someone tell me what 450+bhp "feels" like.....(just for fun)

The above may sound like a stupid question and I will probably never
get to 400hp, (planning for 350 tho!) therefore, apart from bragging rights
down he pub, how different is life with 400+ hp?? is it a world away from a good
RS2 set up? Based on a daily driver, not just a lap of the Nurburgring"

Does the extra 50-60hp over a decent RS2 set up make a world of diffrence?

I've been out in a few quick S2/RS2... Think of it this way...

A nicely chipped S2 is a 'world away' from factory setup - the butt dyno tells you that and the grin factor is immense - letting the turbo do what its capable of

Going from a nice setup S2 to a factory RS2 setup isn't a big wow factor - lots of lag, no more torque and just a lil bit more power at the top end

A nicely chipped RS2 is the next big step up from that, where the butt dyno is telling you that things have tangibly got faster at say 470Nm and 360bhp

When you go 400 - I've done 420-430bhp on a 2871R equipped S4 over here - when that thing does a full on launch and you aren't expecting it - your eyeballs roll in your head with the G-Force... It is mad, progressive and not a wee bit addictive. Been a passenger once in Toms old S2 when it was running circa 450 on a KKK26/27/29 hybrid - took a wee while to get boosting - but when it did - properly bonkers with that G-force that pushes you firmly back in the seat and gets all of your attention to how fast the scenery is disappearing past your window.

I have stop dead on a dual carriage way. With 450hp and launched and in 4 seconds you have gone past the car that has just pasted you its

yeah... 0-60 in about 4s smells about right... Circa 1g of acceleration from standstill does rather get your attention.

I personally think that circa 100bhp per wheel is plenty quick enough for the open road - the S2 chassis copes with it admirably without major suspension work - big brakes are a must though. At 400ish bhp the car can still be very tractable and well behaved for normal and heavy traffic... Beyond 450bhp I think you are getting into territory of drag strips and full on racers as they need to be ON to get the nice to drive 'fun factor'... This of course is very subjective and determined by details of setup, driving style and such. Different rules apply for daily driven 'strokers' of course - they probably get to feel a bit bonkers beyond 500bhp - never actually been out in one.

Quattronutters S4 was disgraceful, quick, throw you back in your seat and no lag very very addictive feeling.

Ask me this question again end of the year I'll hopefully be able to tell you what it feels like and have the car dyno'd money permitting
