    Audi imsa/s1 crankcase vent..

as topic, tried google but want bigger and closer pics..

i need them for my enginge build and the crank case ventilation that is crap OEM..

im going to use an 7a rocker cover and these have no ventilation as i have seen on pics?

a pic of i have been thinking to build my crank case ventilation ( stole pic from some on the forum hopefully ok for that person! )

the rear will be sitting at the same place as the pic, but in the front i dont know yet whats best, on the side of the rocker cover, on the top, or not att all

    some pics of my ideas:

    and audi s1 version:

i bet they use drysump, thats why they dont need an refill cap.. i also belive there is an pipe that goes to the middle of the rocker cover...

an AN-12 further back i think would be the best decision (standing on top of the rocker, so all oil that flush back att acceleration wont go in the hose,) and a hose to an catchtank in the front of the engine ( also to eliminate oilflow thru the catchtank) but this is only guessing from my side...

anyone got some smart ideas? feel free to fill in

maybe should be moved to engines instead`?

      .

Ventilation of the head will help for 2 things, relieves pressure buildup therefore less leaks and also allows the hot oil vapours to be returned to the sump.

Position is not going to be critical, there is not a large amount of oil 'sloshing ' around in the head as opposed to the block.

Personally i would locate it at the rear on a flat area so that proper sealing is achieved or weld a fitting to the cam cover.

Use the largest dia that you can fit. larger Dia = lower velocity = less oil being carried out of the engine. It would also be good to avoid a transition directly from the flat of the VC into the tube. This way oil cannot be blown along the interior of the head and into the tube.

I have tried both in my cossie, breathing from block and top, and block only, was no difference, so as long as the hoses are big enough(12mm) then i cant see a problem

Ordered an An -12 weld nut and will weld it where it sits on my s1 engine picture ( at the back)

Edit: and then, what you think about take that hose to an catchtank with an filter on top and then down in the oil-pan? or should i take it to oem location on the block? if not. how do i plug the hole there?

here? or to the oil return line hole on AAN?

big core plug is normally used to block the breather hole of as is oem i think for the diesel 5

you maybe be able use a core plug with fitting on it aswell, sorta like the way the water for turbo is done

Correct it is mild steel though, it runs to the catch tank yes. And yes the tank will drain to the sump
