    Ding Dong......

....went the doorbell, "Hi mate, is that your Audi?"

Oh fook, whats happened Im thinking?!

Its only gone and rolled backwards from its space into the middle of the carpark
The handbrake was on, but obviously not enough
Thankfully it didnt have enough momentum to reach the fence on the other side

Lucky escape! Could ithe brakes have been hot when you parked it? :mischeif:

I always leave my cars in gear, extra protection. Funny when I drove someone else's car (who doesn't do that and didn't check!) and they started it and turched forward 6ft

I had the same thing years ago with my mk2 golf gti...looked out the window..thought some theiving gipsy bar-steward had nicked it...it was sat in the middle of my street!!!...luckily it wasn't busy and I was on an early shift....

I have found my avant's handbrake can be a bit un-predictable even with the 300mm S4 conversion on....

Hmmm, yeah the brakes were hot! The hand brake looked to be on as normal as usual, I just imagined it wasnt.
Its in gear now though LOL!
We've just moved house and the car park isnt flat like my last one, so will have to be more careful if its had a good run!

Hot brakes = expanded brakes, cold brakes = contracted brakes

Lol, havin' a Deja Vu here...had exactly the same thing couple of weeks ago. The S6 parked itself in such a way that it blocked the complete road in front of the house. Also due to not having the handbrake in the appropriate position. The shock I was in took years of my life away...

Unfortunately for us cars with abs mean rear disks (apart from the rs2 that has both) and disks are not good for handbrake at the best of time, good old drum brakes are much better when they cool the drum shrinks and the brake is on more not less.
I always leave my car in gear, I don't trust the hand brake.
If you have ever tried doing a handbrake turn with a rear disk car you will know how **** the hand brake is .
You need a hydro handbrake for proper handbrake turns with disks.

no you dont, just need handbrake cable snapping arms

my lane is a fairly steep away from the road with a bend on it with a 5 foot retaining wall on the outside of the bend, one day after a hard hard drive in the 90 parked her the top out of gear, went out to find car not there thought hum dad must took for a drive, walked down the lane to find the beech hedge had lucky caught the car, currently the bumper is cracked after that
made me always leave in gear now

s6 is different story handbrake great anyway but shes auto so cant take key out unless in park
