Changed the back axle on a Nova today..

And what a refreshing change it was from working on Audis. One handbrake cable, two brake lines, and four bolts before the entire lot fell on the ground. Hillarious you can replace a rear suspension within an hour

My cousin somehow managed to bend it so each rear wheel had about 10 degrees negative camber I guess GM's engineering division never imagined four 17 year olds in a lowered nova tearing around the hills of Northern Ireland. Kind of scary but funny in a "we were all young and foolish once" kind of way.

corsa b axle meant give extra 4 inches for the drag racer look
theres some t*t down the road from me with a chav'd up nova with such an axle

then the other hand i have a very good friend who has a very clean nova which i helped fit a different engine to. i managed to lift the engine and gearbox together for the laugh, its more of a struggle to lift a near bare audi 5 block

also being 18 i know exactly all the stupid things you do your 17, some of which are still catching up with me

Nova is a great wee car for working on alright - dead simple... A gearbox change is possible in 10-15 mins if you know what you are doing. Pity that so many Novas end up being chavved to within an inch of their life. When setup properly they are actually quite good fun to drive.

Agreed - My brother & I were changing the box on our Astra GTE turbo in less than 40mins all in. Mind you we have plenty of practice with over 300lb/ft they never lasted very long.

got a video on my old laptop of my mate doing a handbrake, hitting a pot hole and bending the drivers side rear wheel in, looked like something from back to the future, took me around ten minutes to remove another beam from a donor car.

            shame they rust for fun

My first car which i loved and kept from 1994 through till 2003 was a Nova SR, i left it looking tatty, the bodywork was spotless, and i ditched the alloys for steelies then removed all the badges so it looked like a Nova Merit with an SR interior Lowered it 15mm with 25% spring stiffness increase. It regularily done 125mph on the clocks and flew. Unfortunately the only thing what i hated was it was very un communicating-- Grip Grip Grip Gone, no letting you know its on the limit. In around 1998 i crashed into the ex chief constable of traffic division and he was connected--Sued my insurance for a fortune and the crash occured 15 mph
