Finding the POS for the coils

Just curious does anyone know if there is a POS for the coils on my 1.8 se a4 avant and if so where I can find it/them to change.

car - audi a4 1.8se ADR engine, currently has no spark on cylinder 2. Tried new spark plugs, new leads, new coils but still the same so looking at what controls the coils and gets them to fire. Its a wierd setup anyways as it has 2x coils to run 4 cylinders (think its called a wasted spark setup)

    anyone got any ideas

thanks for linking that in, helped me find it on etka just now

I have setup 1 that you've highlighted, i've changed this bit and still no change to the running of the engine and i've only just got my laptop to try vagcom on it.

I was wondering if there is a part 1c for the ADR engine as thats only listed for the:

anb, apu, ark, ajl (hitachi version) and same for bosch but it does not mention if there is a version for the ADR engine so i'm not sure if my car has one as if it does I reckon that is the problem same as some of the aby's have when a power output stage goes wrong.

the hall-senders are a common fault on th L5, so maybe on these also...

Peter if it is only one cylinder that is affected by this and you have changed plugs and coils the POS must be at fault (Part 1C looks like the culprit from picture)..The newer style coils which are used for coil conversions on ABY/AAN have the POS inbuilt into each one so much easier to sort problem..If you get it plugged into VAG.com sure it will tell you whats up

I'm hoping to have vagcom on it tonight, i've got the leads out my old avant today whilst I was down there, just not sure if its anything to do with the actual coil unit because both units had the same problem so think its what controls the coil unit unfortunately.

Right according to RAC home start (I pay for it so decided to use it ) the switchable voltage to the coil's was fine on one side but only half what it should be on the otherside resulting in a massive misfire for cylinder 2 and a smaller misfire for cylinder 3. After the guy speaking with his technical department for a while to see if its happened before, its looking highly likely like an ecu fault. I've now got another ecu coming from a mate just got to get vagcom working to match the key's to the ecu apparantly
