Been searching google for the weight of the type89 quattro, is it true its about 1240kg kerb weight? Seems a big light for a big ol bus???

That means its more or less the same weight as a corrado vr6

Something like that, I found weights for the 20v quattro at just under 1300kg. B4 quattro V6 is about 1350kg I think. The old Audis were almost sensible weights! S2 has a few beefed up bits and pieces and all the turbo stuff, still, 3B is just over 1400kg.

Ah, well that dont seem too bad then weight wise, anyone got sub 1000kg with turbo engine, cant be that hard if i get rid or all mod cons like c/l, a/c, power windows, carpet, interior + rear seats, abs, sound deading, ect ect?

Should see 100-150kg removed (with buckets) then add 50+ back in for a cage. A lot of the weight of these cars is in the mechanics, hence why a stock S2 drivetrain can handle over 400bhp reliably.
