    Thruxton Race Day

    Hello guys,

Keep jumping in the forum every now an then hobby to kep me busy most of the time (gone a bit compo with an allotment well time t ofsetsome of the stuff coming out of the avant )

    So to the topic....

LAst friday had a trip to thruxton circuit for a bit of a hoon in other peoples expensive cars.. Christmas pressie...

    3 cars driven in all.

    1. Porsche Caymen (Don't go there)
    2. Viper
    3. Mazda RX8 230

Hmmm went very well good score on the driving side from the instructors.

1st 3 laps with the instructor in a mazda 3 Ts. jeez them things are quick fo little cars. Told how to drive the track and what to avoid as there is an off camber corner an a few little bits to avoid.

2nd lappage in the porsche caymen. Has no guts over 100 I can tell thee. None at all and could have driven alot faster in the avant. Nice track to get a bit of speed on though after the first few corners......

    3. Viper time. This was scary, no helmet alot more relaxed this time but to be driving a big car like that with all that torque was amazing. Sounds awesome from inside too. hooning round and hitting tops of 160mph ooooooooooo was nice. Moment for the day was on the 2nd lap coming past the pit area through a coned channel to avoid people comin out of the pits..... picture it past pits first corner is a quick but long lefty leading to v.hard on the stopers ready for a 90deg right followed by 90 left and onto a more open right again(the circuit has four strips of tarmac running round it making 'lanes' across the track), caymen on the 2nd driving at a moderate speed,(so on my left) Ferrari 430 (yellow of all colours) coming out of the pits at speed but suposed to give way to the faster cars. So stage is set I am coming up behind at 90mph adn was told specifically on the instruction laps to level the car off as it is a tad adverse and will catch out if not prepared propely for the left to right will spin......

    Instructor with me says ........

    "see that gap between them"
    "yep"
"Floor it and go through it but drop to 2nd first!! go careful and stay wide then pull close to the front of the porsche and stamp ont he brakes, off and turn... It is going to squeal a bit and fight but you will handle it!!!!"
    "ok"

Off we went close t the porsche and nailed it, just ct infront to hit the turning point, car was a tad out of shape and turned with a nice blance throttle after coming off the brakes. getting that feeling of what is about to happen as car now even more out of shape due to a bit too much speed.

"hit the trottle hard" came from the man in the know... The tail came out a little bit and put out of sahpe for the left 90 but just managed to keep it in control and nailed it for the right hander still a little slippy with the rears squealing like a pig.......

HEART IN MOUTH...... Great stuff. to quote richard hammond I felt like a driving GOD at that point and nailed a really quick time for the lap and was guning for the Lambo 640 they have there...

    OOOOOOOO what a day.

Then on to a few in teh Mazda RX8 which supprised me at how revvy the engine is.

Top it off... Instructor lapin another RX8 and lets say the car was not straight at any point and I mean any point......

Wholy recomend to those who have not tried

    Many many on the day

(and I beat my big bro!!!)
