    math or trip? Who's correct?

just come back from hols... Trip computer says 25.4mpg. But managed 491 miles and put 75 quid in fuel (super unld, say 1.10 per ltr) my math 30+ ?confused?? the dash said empty 50m from home but fuel gauge said plenty. Are these trip computers WAY out ??

Dd you put your foot down in the final leg of your journey?

I imagine the the trip computer runs off the last 100 miles or something.

trip should give you average since you reset it. there is an adjustment you can make to the autocheck / trip unit to adjust the calibration, there are 3 jumpers on the side of the housing You can also adjust your fuel guage reading and electronic trip fuel reserve too

Yes! 5 to 10% pessimistic. You can adjust them using the DIP switches hidden on the side of the instrument binnacle.

By my experience you have at least a gallon of fuel after the Empty warning on Autocheck... its very pessimistic

yep... the trip on my S2 always gives a 20% lower MPG than actual (I reset every tank).
on my S2 when the warning symbol lights, there is ~8 liters left in the tank (and then the trip says no more miles to drive)

You can't beat a calculation based on brim-to-brim and calculate miles against litres... I can't say I ever put mine to the test but if it's pessimistic, my 29mpg yesterday was very impressive

I keep track of the fuel consumption of all my cars.. lifetime average of the S2 is 12.1 liters / 100km.. I fed it with 4151 liters since I own it...
see the attached graphs of the S2's fuel consumption in time and vs average speed (as reported by the tripcomp; green line is BP Ultimate, brown is ordinary 98). also attached a curve of trip vs actual.
