    Scamera Van

came back from a trip up the m40...on my way back spotted a camera van on the denham roundabout above J1 M40 parked on the pavement looking down onto the carriageway snapping drivers from the rear.

would've caught the back of me going the other way on my way out half hour before if he was there then, I didn't see.....that part of the gantry is not visible from the other side being that it's on a massive roundabout.

As you exit a gatso 100yds on under the bridge as you come out the other side, click click hello lads.

Gutted....are they allowed to be concealed like that???

From what I have read they are allowed to put them where they like, as long as they can prove its a blackspot for accidents or if its an area with road works...

We have mobile units in our area now so we are screwed no matter what!!

Its just another form of TAX revenue for HMC&R...

The goverment just look at the car driver as another source of income - Soft target IMO....

They also like setting up the vans on the bridges and on-slips around junctions 7, 8 and 8a of the M40. Occasionally 5, and much less so 6, but that has pretty much zero visibility.

        Ck.
Shocked, exhausted, hosed, bushed, dumped, chipped, mounted, filtered, gauged, packed, intermittantly wiped and braked. I mean broken. Now, about the car...

if there is any little chink of light on the situation, couple of people i know who have been photoed have either not had anything through or did get it but actually made ero difference to their insurance quote...

Personally this whole issue sucks....I agree that I thought all fixed cameras had to be visible, with a speed limit notification BEFORE the camera so as to be seen as 'fair'....barstewards

They use the lastec LTI 20-20.
IT is a laser and has a range of about 600m, although the range is governed by the scope as they have to be able to see your reg in the video as far as I can remember (got zapped by one years ago when I didn't know what I was looking for.

They are not automatic as such as the operator is supposed to form the opinion that you are speeding BEFORE he points it at you and is recording as you have to be a SUSPECT.

In reality though they just sit there and aim constantly into the traffic so if he was pointing it in to your lane you are screwed . They best way of avoiding these f*******s is stay out of the outside lane as that's were they are focused on.
There is a good forum for more detailed / updated info on this, I was on there a few years ago when I had my incident with the infamous LTI 20-20.
It is well worth checking out as my info is based on stuff from a few years ago now.
Lots of legal advise/ways of getting out of prosecution etc.

The few of us who are still working are going to have to pay another tax for going to work - what stupid accountant or bureucrat came up with this Boolloxs??

I have no problem with peeps who have hit hard time recently getting a hand from the goverment - BUT i do object to the lazy Fu++ers who have no intention of ever getting a job

There ARE only two answers to beat the camera vans......and one of them is TRACKDAYS, Ive seen them...they are the future!!

On the subject of parking tax. My understanding is that it is coming to Nottingham very soon. I was told that a few years ago when the idea first surfaced, a large Nottingham based pharmacutical company checked out where their car park was in relation to the area of the city that would fall into the parking tax area. It was within it, so they knocked down some old buildings that were out of the area but still on their site and moved the car park there, out of the taxed zone. Hows that for a good employer/employee relations!!

Yes but... the Company rep on Today on radio 4 was talking figures, in 2012 ( after the next election... ) it will cost the company £ half a million and by 2015 over £1 million, per year. He claims ( rightly imho) that the company already pays plenty of taxes and this is just one more, stealth, tax.
The Government spokesperson ( local MP ?? ) was crap.......

@ rusty what do u mean?

Been looking at pepipoo, didnt realise that they can move from car to car like that I thought they just targeted a specific area with the scope and just pulled the trigger whenever a car was in view.

0.5mm movement in your hand and at 500m down the road that laser spot could move a massive amount giving false readings.

Im 90% sure that these vans are run by people like you and me, its like a franchise where you buy into it and the goverment take a percentage of the profit.

I got done by one of them on the a46 a few years ago in my works van.

Also i read somewhere that some students stole the front number plate off one of these vans and ran up and down the motorway with it on there car,the van operator only knew when the fines came through lol

The fact that it could be any old Tom operating a camera to make a few quid is scary.

I don't understand the point in catching someone speeding but doing nothing about it, not even letting them know they're speeding, that's what they are doing effectively.

They allow people to carry on down the road at what the system considers to be a "dangerous speed" that contributes to "fatalities" without so much as a thought to get the guy stopped or slowed down at least.

To me It's kind of like a police officer watching people rob a shop all week and when asked "aren't you going to do something!" he replies "No, they will all learn their lesson when they get a stiff letter next week". Had he walked over and made himself stand out a bit the poor guy in the shop might be in better shape.

The fact they shovel the road safety S**T down your neck to dampen peoples arguments down makes me sick. Operators like this one should be strung up by the man 'veg'
