anyone care to guess - weight of bare avant

the weight of a totally stripped avant shell

by stripped i mean everything, right down to the roof lining!
no doors, tailgate or bonnet
no bumpers
no interior
no dash
no engine, box
no suspension, subframes
no running gear
etc...

reason for asking, im am stripping/have stripped an s2 avant, and need to get the shell carted away, but its in a little garage, which is impossible to get to with a truck of any description, so im building a large dolley from a wooden pallet, castors and ratchet straps and need a rough idea of the load that going to be put on the castors so i can get the correct ones

I bought a load of good heavy duty castors with brakes off ebay for decent enough money, as seen in these photos attached to my wooden dolly for moving my shell around the bodyshop when i get the axles off-




I tell you what, i'll do you a deal. You give me those s2 skirts, clips and door trims that i was asking for ages ago at a good price, and i'll send four of these castors to you in the post FOC. cant say fairer than that! lol

You'd get money for the shell, there was one in brum that was on ebay that sold for a good amount a couple of months ago.

Probably still weighs more than a type 85/urq

Think you've already got that one on your file mate, it was on ebay a while ago with some spares with it, azev a alloys etc.

Ryan, the sill covers (big plastic bits below the bottom of the doors that curves under the car) have been painted the same blue as the car?!

By door trims do you mean the peices at the bottom of the door that matches the front wing tips and the rear wing parts? if so they have also been painted, and are not in very good condition.....


Paul - I didnt realise anyone would want the shell, hence i was getting it scrapped, but if you think its worth bunging it in the FS section or ebay thats what ill do - problem is it would need to go asap as i havent got the room to keep it, and ive got to get my brothers mk2 golf in the garage as i promised id do his VR6 conversion ages ago now....

Are the lower door mouldings painted S2 ones, or RS2 ones in bad shape? If RS2 ones, i May well be interested!

im not too worried about the colour of the skirts, thye'll be getting rubbed down, primed and painted whatever colour they are!



im after the s2 version of all the grey tim in that photo along the bottom of the doors, wing and quarter. judging by vagcat they arent that dear (so long as they are still available) so i might just buy them new. but its the skirts that are the dear part from audi, so id rather get them second hand!
