    Help!!! what to do!??

I'm torn between my 2 cars at the mo... heres the story and dilema i have.

Me and the mrs have 3 cars between us. she has a c2 and i have my Audi Quattro and a MK4 golf 1.6.... I cant afford to run the golf and audi at the same time. Not using the audi at the mo as the cambelt is fraid and dont want to drive it incase it breaks, plus has other issues that aren't in a hurry to fix i.e door locks. The golf is an old persons car but the gearbox is in a bad way as a rivet or something broke but was repaired but not well.

So my dilema. should i keep the golf going and hope the gearbox doesnt break again, or should i change the cam belt on the audi and repair the other issues as and when? either way cant do both and one will be off the road.

Cambelt would be easier i'd have thought that trying to source/sort the g/box out.

What else is needed on the audi?

also what mot/tax is left on both cars?

sell the golf and the c2, fix the audi. Put the wife on the bus and tell her its good for the enviroment by offsetting your Quattro's carbon! and u save on tax, fuel, ins, etc. (is it a green c2? The missus wants one!

          LOL @ Cymru

Seriously - do the cambelt - it has been demystifed by myself and many others. No need to fear the stealer... A weekend will sort that if you are handy, have the right tools and just taking your time.

            Cheers Guys

Cymru: Don't think the mrs will like that too much... lol she has a black C2 Furio (when looking around we found the Furio model to be the best value) and has those flappy paddles which are ok when you get use to them.

I think it does make more sense to fix up the audi as it can be cheaper to fix than the golf.

the audi's insurance and tax runs out this month but mot is until early next year, whereas the golf has just been renewed for mot and insurance tax due next month.

Tax and insurance are virtually the same for both cars... mpg the golf averages 30mpg, not sure on the audi maybe 25mpg?!

the main thing keeping me to the golf is that it was my parents car which they gave me when the gearbox went. but they spent loads on keeping the service history and anything need doing.

i am thinking of putting the audi back on the road and taking the golf off and leaving it on the drive for now. plus i have a friend locally who is competant at all areas of the audi.

I'm sure your local competent friend will help you out mate
In fact if you decide to fix up the golf i can probably give you a hand with that too. Either way parts permitting theyre both less than a weekends work.
Audi will be definately cheaper and easier to fix though.
