    RS2 Bonnet sound absorber

    Info needed please.
Just about to order oe under bonnet sound absorber for my RS2.
Two things I'd like to know, does it come with the heat resistant foil patch,
or is that a seperate part?

I've got 8GO 863 825N as part number for absorber, can someone confirm this.

    Cheers.

Arthur has a fresh 80 in, have a look at that.
They all seem to be the same. My mothers 80tdi has the same pad! Foil attached.

    Yes thats the right number.

I'm running without it as it was recently removed and I can't tell the difference in sound.

I was going to say the same as Jamo, Ive removed it on cars in the past with no issues atall.
If anything, it can help keep under bonnet temps down as its not as insulated

Can you get the foil to protect the bonnet paint separately? Say from a restoration place? Just thinking that the paint might not appreciate the full force of a red hot turbo.

              Edit:-

              A quick search found this.

Even if not you can surely get heat protective foil from demon tweeks or rallydesign.co.uk etc.

You should hear my 7A without it, the sound of 20 valves thrashing away and induction noise is deafening. Its not a nice noise either, very harsh and mechanical.

On the S2 or S4 i doubt i would notice the difference. Maybe the cam covers do a better a job at sound insulation.
