Maybe they're playing the way that the 'bay advises you to play - put in your maximum bid, then sit back, relax, and see if you've won.
In reality of course this is likely to get you sniped out - so we all end up last second bidding and watching the 'bay servers fail to respond.

Less than a day to go, and the current price is £520*. If there's the usual bidding flurry of snipers then the £600 that 4WheelDrifter was asking (link) doesn't look at all unreasonable.
