    Jerky issue

    Hey all

I'm having issues. I have an aby avant with a jerk wen on boost. It's kinda like the missfire the mk 4 golfs have so I'm thinking coils. I have plugged it into vag com but it shows no codes or faults. It's not a major issue but it bugs me as it feels like the car is slightly holding back. Any ideas? Eg coils, maf? I would like to solve it so it drives as it should. O n it's been homefried for years. I can't let my brothers hand built mk 1 caddy be quicker wen he puts in his silly cams on his silly engine.

Help please so he doesn't think his silly bean carrier is quicker than my l-Audi!

    Cheers guys

To the subject line I was gonna suggest Reggae Reggae Sauce, but that would not be so helpful

Knock sensors maybe - these wee nasties never give a fault code unless cabling is open or short - useless.

Coil packs possible too. Big miles ?

Do you get hard cutouts at 4k rpm - if so - thats overboost protection from either an air leak or madmaf.

Suggest you disconnect the ECU fuses for a minute to reset it then go another drive to see how quickly the ECU cries foul.

Cheers Paul I shall give this A go. It doesn't cut out heavy style like the boost protection does. Only done 140 k Miles...

      Will take a look

I'd say knock sensors (dodgy cables/connectors) or the dreaded expense of coilpacks... One or more could be bad at 140k miles alright... Best to see if you can swap the whole set over - borrowed from another car - they are hard to test in isolation without specialised equipment. Worth swap-testing a known good MAF as well - equally hard to test otherwise - and expensive to change 'just in case'
