Here's one for you all to check out. It might have been covered already.
I have 2 customers cars in my care at the moment. Due to space issues I have a deal with the Land lord of the pub over the road that as it is private propperty I can park cars there.
This morning both of those customers cars have been clamped for not having a SORN decleration.
Car 1. Has been owned since June this year and had a current SORN declaration at the time of purchase. However when there is a change of ownership of the car you have to re SORN the car in the new owners name.
Car 2. The car was collected and delivered to me on Friday to have work carried out so that it able to be MOT'd then Tax'd. The owner has not even had the V5 back yet....
They have both been well and truely bent over and rammed real hard and very dry!!!
£260 each for the release fee......
It appears that the law has now changed from the 1st of October 2008 if the DVLA van happens to drive past your house and catch a glimpse of your classic audi in bits in the garage and there is no current SORN. They have the power to walk up your drive and clamp it in your shed. If the fine is not paid within 24 hours. They then have the right to come and remove the vehicle to a pound where it then gains more costs and can finally then be crushed.
So get looking through your cars and just make sure they are all tax'd or SORN'd..
It is apparent that it is not up to the DVLA to remind you that a car is not tax'd or SORN'd......
