So - at great risk of much pith taking... here are the three colours I have in my head for the midlife crisis (funds permitting) S2 project. Purpose of the car is for fun driving only - which means stripped out and noisy and a much tighter chassis that enjoys corners so much better than umpteen year old shocks & bushes.
My original gut feel was good old alpine white inside and out, but I've since realised the interior needs to be black and I'd really like some subtle splashes of colour on the white just to spice things up. I have a tentative notion for orange and blue used together on the white - sort of like the way Castrol used to do things on race/rally cars. Only one pic I can find of that concept - think orange and blue instead of red and green - not as blatent as this.
Thinking about orange gets me all juiced up on how well one of the Dahlback cars looked and something tells me that would look even better on white alloys. You'd never call it subtle and I might grow to hate it but hey - its out there.
But with thoughts to the black interior I thought it might look really cool to have a matt black finish on the outside. I've seen it done really well on 'rat rods' - I think the murricans call this finish 'east coast suede' - it looks ace on the right car. Only pic I could find on an Audi is this one and I love it. No idea if it is easier/harder to paint but I know that cloudy clearcoat is required so it might be a specialist only job. Guess that silver/grey alloys are needed for that to work well, but white could look alright.
