    prices of S2 s

dont know for u on the island but here on the continent, prices for S2 seems on the rise and availability is on the downside.

last year, it was possible to find a decent S2 3B for 5000-6000 € and a lot of choices were available, now things are guetting tricky, not much choices and prices are on the rise. And for ABY, it seems they become a collection item, not much below 10 000 €.

Time to store S2 ssss maybe.

I guess it s gonna be like 928 and classic 911, 50 to 100 % rise in prices in a few years.

    anybody see this trend ?

        Very interesting....

TBH I am not surprised thoo...

I have been looking for a Mk2 GTi 3 Door with good history and not molested... and prices seem to on the up all the time...

I bought a white 5 door for under £300.00 bit of a nail... but with some TLC & service... some Genuine VW parts etc she will look good and I will sell her on...

But 3 Doors fetch from £500.00 to £4,500.00.... WTF... Linky

I know the MK2 is an Iconic car like the UR quattro...

But it's about time these cars were on the up.... More getting broken by the week... Prices MUST go up...

        Just MHO

I was lucky to get my urq for 1k and enjoying owning it and modding it.

Yeah its supply and demand, i'm surprsed the avant prices have not gone thru the roof, there cannot be many left fully legal on the road and they seem to be stripped quite often which is one of the reasons i'm helping madwolf save dests old avant, it may not end up 100% s2 but at least it won't get scrapped.

It is my theory that prices of good Coupes will rise in time. By a 'good' Coupe - I mean a dry one !
The confounded water leaks in the Coupes are going to kill them off eventually - the complexity of that whole windscreen, A-pillar and wacky door seal make it a real specialist job to do properly. Consequently - anyone selling a Coupe that has any water ingress is handing over a big future expense and hassle to the next owner.

My own water leak is getting worse - now damaging the drivers seat... To the point where I wonder if I can bothered to fix my leak or just get a good dry CQ with an original screen to reshell into. I need some professional advice on the cost of making the original shell watertight again as I have the dreaded rusty bubble on the upper windscreen corner... sure sign of a botched replacement in a past life.

I have too agree, having recently grappled with A-post trims and door seals in my quest for a dry passenger compartment. I think I've cracked it now, however I can testify to how much of a PITA the job is and I'm going to have to completely redo it again in future as the top corners of the screen cracked due to it being sat too high. I'm going to tackle it myself and I don't care if it takes a whole weekend to get it right. I am yet to see a replacement screen fitted perfectly by the likes of Auto glass.

I can see late mint Coupés fetching a premium in years to come. Avant values baffle me, they are rare cars yet most seem to change hands for relativity little.

Yeah - note to self... Snap up an S2 Avant ASAP - todays crazy low prices cannot last forever. Thakfully they are nothing like as prone to water leaks up front but are MUCH easier to replace screens by likes of Autoglass in the event of stone chips and such.

gotta rememeber we got, thanks to the jap rhd market subaru, evo and skylines to name just 3. not the same competition in europe.

my coupe until recently has been water tight. even when i had the dodgy screen for a bit it was fine unless really heavy rain and motorway. leaked only once. the boot has just started to become damp. need to sort the rear lights.

this is old metal though. anything over 5k is overpriced imo.lol i paid a little more than that though.

The rear lights are at least cheap and easy to sort... Its the windscreen that will be the deathknell for many a Coupe. Most folk will just not be bothered as costs for a proper repair will be prohibitive... Hence the leaky ones will get traded in on scrappage schemes or broken for bits... And the remaining dry ones should start to go up in value as long as demand for them is there.

alwasy thought it was just a trim issue rather than a leak issue.

did you spot where its coming from.

price update in mainland europe :

ABY coupe nothing below 13000 € and good ones asking price around 18000 € !!!

dont know who s paying for that price ???

                              RS2 on the downside, around 10 000-12 000 € , 2 years ago was around 15 000 €

a lot of choice in switzerland and of course germany

RS4 V8 are coming down fast ! nice one low mileage for 45 000 € already

Think it s really the ABY coupe that s gonna be the collector s item in few years.

                              Cheers
