Just wait for the option of delrin or poly. Can you measure your snub shaft diameter please

Poly or Delrin, getting both. Be about £30 delivered due to small batch material costs.

I used to get this on my cq, it was the rear diff, its just how it was when I got it, I didn't mind it and left it at that.

This is a pic I took when I did mine

I got all the information from the drive train workshop manual which was posted online, I can't find the link now. I can email it to you, it's a 7mb RAR file though.

Did you use the crown wheel and pinion from your diff when you fitted the V8 torsion diff?

Are you using a springed clutch and single mass flywheel? If you're using single mass flywheel and release the clutch fast it will sound alot, the thing is you have to learn how to shift fast, you can change the pedal position by adjusting it by the master cylinder, the lower the setting the less it will sound, however if you adjust it too much , then the clutch will slip , if you have bigger "play" in the clutch you will get a faster movement in the pedal, and when you completely release the clutch it will sound like the diff is going to fall off the car. Your options are to either adjust the clutch, or just don't release the pedal too fast. You can still make quick shifts without having the pedal released to quick

And if you DON'T have a springed clutch, this will always be the case for you then, the springs help when engaging / disengaging the cluch. But the first step to bigger bangs are always a sm flywheel.

If your car is tight in all other areas, bushes and mounts, the movement has to go somewhere, and the end station is the diff! Trust me Get smoother gearbox mounts if you experience this too harsh. Otherwise do as I said earlier.

Listen to this video , this is a solid mounted engine, listen to the noise when he pops second gear. This is how mine was too, not THIS harsh maybe but similar, it's a price to pay if you tighten up your driveline

I used the original crown wheel and pinion from my old diff Andy
IIRC you didn't need to adjust your backlash as it was in spec?
Do you still have the "plate" tool you made to check yours mate?

This is interesting as I was getting this and a couple of weeks later (last thursday) my clutch has failed (pressure plate)! Might not be related but I'll know when I get my clutch kit fitted.

Well I changed my diff for my spare one (out of low mileage ABY coupe) and the bang from the rear has gone, so this can be put down to too much backlash in my V8 diff as I thought - will get that sorted once i can borrow my mates press

HOWEVER I still have a big lurching through the drivetrain when coming off the loud pedal (Kieron will know what i'm talking about!) - I have noticed it is far more pronounced at low rpm in 1st 2nd and 3rd respectively - hardly noticeable in 4th and nothing in 5th. so this made me think this is wear in the gearbox - shaft bearings perhaps? the reason I think this is that I have a whine from the gearbox as it winds down if i back off the throttle at 6k + in 2nd or 3rd.
Also driveline shunt often seems to be a complaint of CQ owners rather than S2 owners, so perhaps this is something inherant in the weak 01A in the CQ?

Any S2 owners suffer from this?
