So both driving for Mclaren next year it seems - now we'll see who's best wont we??? :mischeif:
Button & Hamilton in same car!

Unfortunately the same car doesn't really prove anything - I would imagine several people here learn how to drive the Audi S2 to it's best and would find the characteristics of a purely RWD car quite different, in much the same way as drivers who go from single seaters to touring cars often have to adapt to FWD ....different drivers don't always like the same car characteristics.
As I think I've stated before, Schumacher always liked a very pointy car - and often, his team mates had to put up with a car that they didn't really like. Given something that they had more confidence in, we might have seen different degrees of consistency out of them.
With the rules for 2010 meaning the cars start the race with fuel for the entire race distance, I wouldn't be surprised if Button's style suits it better, although it's near 100% certain that the car will have been developed around the style that Hamilton likes and that could have a major influence ...but that's something that will only really be known after a handful of races next year.Martin Cutting

I've got to agree with that...Unfortunately the same car doesn't really prove anything - I would imagine several people here learn how to drive the Audi S2 to it's best and would find the characteristics of a purely RWD car quite different, in much the same way as drivers who go from single seaters to touring cars often have to adapt to FWD ....different drivers don't always like the same car characteristics.

The race distance on a single tank of fuel benefits the smooth, consistent driver who stresses the car the least...
The benefits of qualifying well will be, as ever, important, but the preservation of tyres in the early part of the race will be key.85 WR Urquattro, 85 20vT International liveried RallyRep

If Button can learn to drive a difficult car then he has a chance, Hamilton is good, to paraphrase Brundle, this year's MacLaren would have been dangerous in anyone else's hands.
You're right Martin, I can drive the S2 very hard but am nowhere near the limit in my BM as it's a totally different animal and I don't have the experience yet (and it scares me
)

Totally Agree.... If It does come to both Button & Hamilton... Which I hope it does.... British Car & 2 British World Champions....Unfortunately the same car doesn't really prove anything - I would imagine several people here learn how to drive the Audi S2 to it's best and would find the characteristics of a purely RWD car quite different, in much the same way as drivers who go from single seaters to touring cars often have to adapt to FWD ....different drivers don't always like the same car characteristics.

(I think this is a done deal as Maclaren & Ron Denis
have always wanted Button
, but due to his tie up with Williams they have backed off him)... Just My opinion!!!
I Do think the new rules will suit Button better than Hamilton....
But if you are talking pure driving skill I think Hamilton is just ahead of Button...
But the rules will be a real test for all the drivers & teams.....
Can't wait....Comment
