    Rs2 Injector Clips

Was wondering what do the clips on the injectors do,i are they supposed to hold the
injector to the fuel rail as mine dont seem to ,they are fitterd in the top groove but the
cut out in the clip will not slide into the fuel rail as its to low ,there are no leaks and everything is tight Image0074.jpg

Is that injector to far in?
Iirc they have a few grooves so you may need to pull it out a bit to uncover another grove so that the clip can sit on the rail and cup the injector.

They are fitted as they should be same as the old ones ,the two allen bolts dictate
where the fuel rail goes and it wont pull up or push down any more ,but as there
are no leeks i guess they are ok

I would have also said in to far. pull them up and connect them to the rail then fit them to the engine, this is my method although like most things somsbody will disagree..

If i pulled them out a bit more they would leek and the clip would be further away
from the rail would it not

if the injector went further in then the washer type thing on the fpr would then sit in the clip .

Nope that's how i do it too.
First lubricate all 10 o rings with silicone grease.

The nozzle end mounting points can be very stiff to push in, so by the looks of that photo your injectors need to go further down, maybe 2mm, that will also help the spray patten hit all of the cylinder. If the injectors are not fully in, apart from potential boost leaks etc it will effect the performance of the injectors as the fuel woant be sprayed in as designed.

If i were you i would take the rail off, secure the injectors properly in the fuel rail, then lubricate the end o rings and the injector bores and push the whole assembly back in to place till the injector rail holes line up..
                  Good luck

Andy i just had another look on the pictures of yours.

Actually looks like the injectors need to go further up for the clips to sit in the upper injector groove.
You can still achieve that by doing what i said above though.

I mean, remove the fuel rail and injectors, then fit the injectors so that the clips all clip in to the injectors and rail. Then refit the rail with injectors attached and push it in towards the cylinders till the two holes for the bolts that hold the rail to the IM line up.

Or, and try this first remove the plugs on the injectors and the clips. Then try to wiggle them and push them up in to the rail more, Maybe that will work, then refit the clips. as you picture suggests that the injectors are to far in towards the cylinder...

                          Makes sense????

                            I had another thought,
Did you originally fit the injectors? Its posiable for an o ring to come off and stay in the fuel rail cap when an injector is removed.
If this was not niced and new injecotrs and o rings where fitted it would course the injectors not to go in to the rail cap far enough.
                            Are you follwoing?
I had this one, but spotted it right away when i put the old injectors away.

are they genuine injectors,, are you sure they will leak if you pull them up a bit, mind you like you say if they aint leaking,
I know i have put them in to far before and had to pull them up a bit just always makes me feel a wee bit safer knowing they are held in place although like you say dont think they have anywhere to go.
