Never going to happen - best you can hope for is fit a gearbox / diff from the B7 generation quattros with the rear biased torque split

the STi has electronically controlled plate type centre diff which is controlled by electromagnets on the plates IIRC
TOTALLY different system to our Torsen set-up

Would it not be "easier" to make an adapter for block/bellhousing and use the subaru drivetrain with custom mounts and axles?

Is there not a guy down under that has a scooby drivetrain in an ur?

Would have thought there would be a fair few more options for upgrades for the subaru boxes as well compared to our cars.

Don't confuse torque distribution in terms of straight line acceleration (front/rear) with maximum lateral grip (left/right).

Best system on the market that covers both is the ATTESA E-TS system by Nissan. Nothing beats that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Upd-4IP1NXw

quattro systems still are 'dumb' because they aren't controlled. ATTESA E-TS takes G-forces and wheel speed signals to define it's optimum torque distribution.
50/50 distribution is only fine for off-road zero speed situations, for all other it sucks.
I've analized some ATESSA data and it showed that for track situations it never exceeds a 20/80 bias until you push it too hard into understeer and the system has to recover it. (latest TorSen systems mechanically set the max distribution up to something like 20/80 bias)

Worst thing about the old q's is that it messes up the balance under serious braking. It's sending torque to the rear axle, something you don't want under braking conditions. The StaSis diff mod should figure this out though.

It's all about slip angles :mischeif:
