    RS2 rear end replacements.

Hi guy's, just needing a bit of advice.
My car's an RS2 94 plate, with 74,000 miles on and as far as I know it's the first time below items have been replaced
Drop links, ARB bushes and the like.
Not sure if I should be looking to replace both large horizontal connecting links. (Not sure of correct name for these links, but they are in the picture, but lack a number at end of arrow, and a part number.

So to recap, I need to know if I should replace these large links
And part numbers for N/S and O/S

    Thanks for any help.

    Cheers.

I would replace them (need to do mine also) as the bolts seize in the bush and once the new bushes are in it is imposible to set up the tracking. You will want the new bolts too for this, and the bolts for the bottom of the hub carrier where it bolts onto the lower wishbone. They have an eccentric washer on them for adjustment. The one for the tracking in the pdf above has a larger washer and is a shorter bolt.

Just bought a few bits from Harrogate Audi.

N/S O/S handbrake cables same part number for both A8A0609721AG £24.84 each

        N/S drop link 8A0505465D £58.92

        O/S drop link 8A0505466D £58.92

N/S O/S tie rods same part number for both A8A0501530C £54.15 each

The tie rods price seems very good, after reading posts where some members were quoting a lot higher.

        HTH.

Just got all parts back from Audi.
Started removing old handbrake cables, removing middle heat sheild for better access to cable where it meets with handbrake adjuster.
All was going well untill I decided to give prop half a turn, like you do.
Looked up to rear of car, could see n/s drive shaft turning, but not o/s shaft
Went to rear of car and spun n/s hub,and kept my eye on o/s hub, and it turned a bit then stopped, then turned a bit more.

              Is this normal??
I always assumed that if you spun prop both drive shafts should turn together with out any delay in take up.

Still a bit of a novice at all this so shoot me down in if I've missed a trick here.

              Advice very welcome

Just replacing new parts when I get the chance.
I'm on with rear tie rods, nuts are removed.
Now can some kind soul explain the technique for removal of tie rod.
Do I need a tool that draws off both ends??
Had a feeling I wouldn't be able to just pull off with bare hands

                            Any help would be appreciated.

you are replacing the tie rod?

on the outer joint at the hub, laaarge hammer and beat the hell out of it! beat it where the nut sits, so it goes backwards..

inner side, bolts sieze often there, try to use alot of 5-56/WD40

One thing i've learned we are way behind the Scandinavians!
