I think it has a lot to do with the tyres fitted to the allroad and the large 4x4's are just too heavy, if there had been an old landrover there it would have walked it too.

Superb... I thought they were all on the same/similar tyres?

Headed up to the local hills last weekend up a local road called the Tak ma Doon. I passed a Touareg that slithered to the side in defeat and the A6 even managed to burst through 10" drifts (and that bit did surprise me!)

on an even lighter note... I've got a friend that works in the local Porsche dealership and apparently some Cayenne drivers are calling in to find out how to switch the 4WD on 21" wheels, whoopee doo

I'll probably get lynched for posting a scooby vid, but this guy really knows how to drive on snow

I posted this on another forum...

                        The S2 is special...

I had a great day with the S2 today, please bear in mind it is running 205-60ZR-16 Goodyear F1's, part worn on the front, nearly new at the rear... Took our eldest, her friend, brother and mum back home, our road is quite steep, and a skating rink, they're road is similar. The good ol' S2 rambles down the road, along the main drag and then, diffs locked up nicely, saunters up past numourous abandoned hardware. Stopped outside there house, and 'everyone out'.

Got back in on my own, and struggled , it has to be said, to get out of the curb, and over the 'chock' of snow under the front wheels and built up on the bottom of the bumper and undertray. But, with a bit of steering 'rocking' and the classic doenut starting '2k rpm, right lock on, diffs set, dump clutch' technique, the old girl soon slewed out into the centre of the road, pottered to the top, turned and pottered down again.

Picked the little'n up about 7pm and according to the good folk, there were only two vehicles that made it to the top of the road today. A Shogun, and the S2...

The abandoned X5 at the bottom, belonging to the guy at the top, sort of tells a story...
