Audi are doing it to get revenue and sales.
A friend of mine took her a3 in for an mot last year. It failed so badly that they told her she may as well trade it in a get a new car which she did...

Without appearing to be thick, isn't this all a bit negative for Audi, I mean, take your 5 year old Audi in for an MOT and have it catastrophically fail... With £1000 of work... Where's the incentive to part ex it, as a worthless MOT fail against a new one, that'll be a worthless shed in 5 years too?...

At least an S2 is a worthy shed that'll pi$s on most modern Audis for far less than the depreciation of an A3 over 5 years...
