    another one bite the dust...

sorry people but there likely to be one less s2 in the world pretty soon. someone decided to rear end mine at 70 mph on the motorway in a traffic cue.
Im guessing it will be a write off as the nearside rear is a bt of a mess.
can anyone suggest a rough figure on how much it costs to buy back a car from your insurance company if they write it off?
im completely gutted, but have to look at it in perspective, 3 cars were written off, another 2 were damaged, and in the middle of the carnage, infront of me was an untouched white carisma....with a heavily pregnant women in! cant say how impressed i was with the solidarity the s2 showed despite being the 1st to take the impact at 70mph, it may well have saved that little un life!
-sad as it is, it went out on a high.

Chroist! At least you're OK, cars are replaceable at least, even rare ones.

Depends on the level of damage really as to whether they'll let you buy it back, have to wait and see I guess.

      Jay,
Let my Easi Drive friends sort this for you. you will get a like for like hire car and they will sort every other aspect out. You don't even need to contact your own insurance company. If you claim on yours, even though its not your fault it still goes on your record as a claim!

Let me know if I can help.

Hope your wiplash isn't too sore!

Yeah, I dealt with one of these 3rd party lot and they were OK up till the point they contacted my insurance company and told them the car was a total loss. Obviously in this case it's more than a scuff on the bumper and a small dent to the rear panel though! Did make things easier though (once I found out who was who )

It cost me £40 to buy back my V8 , however a mate of mine bought back his rover 25 back of the insurance and they wanted £150 of him for the privilege , it just depends on the insurance company how much they want for it. You can also barter with them as they will most likely incur a cost to get rid of it . It would also seem it really helps if you have driven the car home and is on you property when it is deemed a right off , as such it hasn't cost them in compound fees so they are up on the deal if you but it. This is what happened with my V8 .

Its a company I deal with, I was always annoyed that you have a the inevitable accident thats not your fault and you have to claim or deal with the other persons insurance company. either way you end up with a Ka or Corsa! not fair! and a record on your claim history!
Easi Drive will supply a proper car and sort all the repairers costs, plus they pay the repairer within 10 days of reciept of invoice! thats the best part for me! All insurers drag their heals when paying, I have had to threten court in the past just to get paid. Thats after agreeing to what their assesor will pay for repairs.:corey:
You can choose who repairs your car and they will sort the hire car and any injurys.
Noel had a diffecult time with them, the other driver wasn't addmiting fault and it got a bit messed up but worked out in the end.
I can pull strings with their service but I need to know whats ocurring!

They can supply most vehicles like for like. After 10 years old it gets harder for them, Lee had a spanking new Passat estate 2.0 TDI for about three months (due to bumper supply issues) not a too bad S2 Avant replacement!
If you need their services please contact me for a referal claim form, they don't accept a direct call or contact.
If you have an uber car they have a Gallardo Spider in the fleet!
It does sound too good to be true but I have done about half a dozen jobs with them (one of my own) so I have been at your end too and I can say they make the whole process a breeze!

A friend had his car written off several years back (rear-ended by an MX-5, blonde driver on her phone!). He drove the car home, the assessor came to view the damage and wrote it off. He was later contacted by his insurer to see if he wanted to buy it back, he asked why would he need to buy his own car back - he owns the car, its registered to him at his current address. He paid for it, and as such is still his property regardless of its condition, and as the accident wasn't his fault he expected near market value for it from the other drivers insurance to recoup costs...

He got to keep the car, he got near market value, whiplash & loss of earnings. As far as I'm aware, nowhere in an insurance policy (none of mine) does it say a vehicle must be surrendered if written off...

Get the car home or to a lock-up and argue your case to keep it. I certainly would, why should they gain by taking your car when you've paid for the insurance and it wasn't even your fault...?

Sorry to hear about your crash, but good to hear yourself and the pregnant woman are ok
