    Should i upgrade to HID

I drive a 1995.5 urs6 should i upgrade to HID's and if i should should i buy the tt projectors? Or should i upgrade my bulbs change over to euro lens. My concern with HIDs is melting wires and finding somewhere for my balast that will give a clean factory look install. I also saw a urs with hids and it was melting the chrome plastic inside the head light and i don't want that.

Why not upgrade your existing bulb?

Do you know what bulb type you have in your car?

Philips recently introduced a range of X-treme power bulbs, which are direct replacements for H1, H4 or H7 bulbs. They are supposed to provide 80% more light than a standard bulb.

Are there any members who have tried these bulbs?

Standard HIDs use 35 watts of which no more than 30 watts is in the bulb meaning the headlamp unit has almost the half the heat in it compared to a standard 55 watt bulb so no way is a HID bulb going to melt anything over a standard bulb.

HID bulbs in none projector headlamps may cause scatter so HIDs are at their best in projector units.

My headlights alread have projectors. I had just heard of some people using the tt projectors to get better light. I just don't want to shell out the green if it doesn't make that much difference or rui9ns my head light housing.

There's plenty of posts on here all saying that there's just no comparison between even the best normal bulb and a HID, HIDs make a huge difference and these days cost little more than the best bulbs.

Note that if you buy "slim" ballasted HIDs you do get slimer units but they can come with a lump in the wiring to hide as well whereas standard units just have the ballast for you to hide.

Go for 5500K or 6000K color temperature.

I put HIDs in my US Spec URS4 with stock US spec headlights, it was night and day (literally). Also if you get the slim ballast models from www.ddmtuning.com you can actually fit the entire ballast inside of the headlight housing and there for not need to cut or drill anything.

Did you buy a universal HID kit from ddm or a specific one for the URS?

I never got a bulb out warning, however I have heardd others say they do. I went eith the ddm slim ballasts, 55w 6000k, 9006 bulb (I think that is the correct bulb, there is a link to confirm)

I was in the States over Christmas and got bought a HID set purchased here.

They are top quality and I have had no issues with any autocheck warnings. Took a while to fit as I wanted it to look completely stock/ The ballasts don't need earthing via any strap so I think that helps.

Hope this helps you. I went for H1, 6000k.

                      Thanks
