The times at inters have never been gospel tbh matey. Were the times in the wet or dry? was it a saturday or sunday? did he have a vanilla or spring forest magic tree? did he have guiness or smiths the night before? so many unknown variables to take into consideration mate

That is quite slow, but remember that standing start times are dependent on the launch and how quickly the shifts are made. Highly dependent on driver skill, in other words.
Magazine test of the S2 Avant gave the following numbers:
0-50: 4.3
0-60: 5.7
0-70: 7.7
This was most likely done with two on board and a full tank of petrol (which is silly).
1995 RS2 on Alcohol (6.8sec 100-200km/h)
1994 80E Avant
1986 2L Golf 2 on Alcohol
That high 6 sec to 60 sounds slow to me too, when i had my coupe i know i made it a lot faster than that - depends how you want to launch the car - i was side stepping the clutch at 5k rpm

I agree that the times seem a little slow, but as already said, in order to get even close to book times, you have to drive it like you stole it - or at least like you already have the new clutch just waiting to go in
My stock S2 ran 5.9s at a local event and 6.1s at GTi and later when homefried (a very early version so only 277BHP) it ran 5.4s and 5.7s. All with moderately aggressive side steps at 5k rpm.
Dunno why GTi was always slower though

Sounds a tad slow but the 0-60 is slow, more than likely he was changing gear with care and a stock ABY is difficult at the end of the run as it really needs 4th but it's tempting to hold 3rd and let it rev.
My stock ABY did 6.4s and 14.7 at the same event in the wet with a hangover. I'd hope for high 13s now although I'd get low 13s on the road with the GPS due to less heatsoak on the start
