    what do i do!?!

well and truely stuck between a rock and a hard place here. my car was written off, rear impact so most the trivetrain is salvagable, as is the engine etc. only damage was to rear nearside. Basically it comes at a really bad time, because i cant justify buying another s2 as i have a e30 bmw which will fill the time before work commitments send me over seas to Afghanistan in sept. now do i keep my 300hp s2 until i get back from tour to use as a donar project into a cab or maybe a completely mental project, or do i just sell it for spares and be done with it?! what kind of price is it likely to fetch as spares?
my heart says keep it, but my mind says its just not the right time as i would have to pay storage for nearly 18 months.
    Suggestions on a postacrd please!!

its a tough one alright! If it was me i'd try and work out a way to keep hold of it for now, they have a funny mental hold on you these cars and its mostly against any sane logic

Come back with a fresh set of thoughts and decide what you want to do. I doubt any parts you have will have gone down in value at that point, probably the opposite!

    Take care

you may well be onto something there!! an s2 saloon would be cool. i really like the sound of that. would the s2 engine link up to the running gear in a 90 sallon quattro? would the rear diff need swapping over, and are the driveshaft/props the same? finally whats the score with electrics are the looms the same from the 10v non turbo and 20vT?

why not get a mechanic friend to strip the engine/ loom out and store it in a bedroom in your house

sell the rest of the shell

drivetrain etc. easy to find when you start building that s2 saloon in 18mths....

            g luck

thats the thing i literally dont have anywhere to put it. whilst im away all my posesions go into a box in the mess, so cant put it there, parents are moving house so they would be massiely put out if i stowed it there, and my mates either rent rooms/live in flats or are students.if its a direct swap and doesnt mean welding new mounts for example, and the parts are interchangeable between the s2 coupe and the 90 saloon, then its something i can do in the evenings and weekends, plus i get about a month off work before going, by which stage i could have it road worthy and i can leave it in the car park on camp.

Can't you leave it in its current state in the car park or does it have to be road legal?

If you buy the correct saloon all you need to do is weld in new engine mounts. Everything else swaps over and bolts straight on
