    AUDIBITS part 3

has anybody had any recent dealings? Im fully aware of the problems 3-4 years ago but as we all know parts for our s2's are very rare so sometimes needs must and all that.

Needed an OSR brake calliper as mine was fked. Plan was to get it all done in 1 saturday morning, discs and pads too.

funds at the time were scarse as paying for 2 houses, so i thought £25 for a seconhand one would do the trick. Went on fleabay and typed in s2 calliper........1 item found from seller audibits.

Hmm.....i remember all the bad stuff a few years ago with forum members, but hadn;t heard anything since.......ok maybe he has sorted himself out??

Package arrives on the fri morning, sat i open it up and think to myself that looks familiar, but for all the wrong reasons. Bearing in mind im on my 6th S2 i know over the years what s2 brakes look like. I had been sent one for an Avant

    FFS !!!

You all know how it is, you rule out a day, you get the car in bits, you dodge the rain, you have a go at the mrs for not making enough coffee etc, then you have the wrong parts and you think what a waste of feking time!! Then the mrs comes out and asks if its all done???

Ok, so weekend number two comes up, ive had a mare at audibits (still being polite etc, maybe it was one of his chimps who screwed up?)
Package arrives on the Thurs, open it up and think hmm ok looks better but still not convinced its the right one.

Did a bit of homework on the net and thanks to Merlin and Bo with etka etc realise i have been sent one for....wait for it.......a Front wheel drive Audi 100 !!!!

So as i needed the part done by yesterday as im borrowing someone else's driveway i had to ring every motor factors up, GSF couldnt get one until next week, Kevin Coopers wanted £135 +VAT, then Mill auto supplys had one for £87 + VAT.

I drove from Plymouth to Bodmin and when i got there the guy had known id come out of my way and so kindly gave me a wee discount (decent chap).

Before anyone has the cheek to say i told you so dont !!!! Now audi bits said if i return both callipers he'l refund my original £25.

    HMMMMMMM................AVOID !!!

Its an S2 Quattro, not an avant,80,90 or 100

    Cheers boys....rant over

What do you have to do to warn people? Do people think it won't happen to me because it happened to other people before..........

I agree with the sentiment but it's easy to say this in hindsight (although maybe that's not so valid in this case).

I've been stitched up one way or the other by 3 seperate tuners. All 3 have been a sponsor of either this forum or Audifans and 2 of which were highly recommended by other members. Between them they've probably cost me enough to buy another S4 and it's come to a point where I really am at a loss as to where I should be spending my money. I keep wondering whether I should give up, but I love my S4 and wouldn't know what to do without it.

This is funny ..I have used Mike for along time and dont get me wrong , I have had the odd conversation about S2 and normal coupe with him but usually get there in the end ...I know alot of people have been pissed with him but I have never had any real concerns, If there has been a problem he is more than happy to refund or sort out with something else

Have to agree there, I've had loads of stuff from Mike and the odd problems I've had have always been sorted to my satisfaction. That said I can see where Andy is coming from as well, sods law almost dictates that he'd be send the wrong part twice.

most are fine if you double-triple check you sre getting the right bits and in the case of garages you stipulate timeframes and costs and both fully agree.

i have never had an issue with any of the said places.

Id consider someone to be pretty crap, or unreliable if I had to do that every time I wanted to buy something from them!

at least i get what ive asked for. you can easily count my "ive been ripped off by" posts. 0. im sure that count will change sometime however.

sometimes you get warned about companies and taking precautions helps. we all form our opinions and if they even pass the crap or unreliable bandwagon im stipulating.

a former friend gave me a valuable insight on this many years ago.

some suppliers like the AndyG says, are the only option there or there abouts.

bought a door seal as a spare the other week....arrived as expected and well packed, cant say fairer than that

Having said that, even dealers get the wrong things ordered from time to time so its not exclusive to independents/specialist or just anyone else youcan source things from.

Its a pain when it goes wrong and it happens frequently with these cars but as usual perserverence prevails

Used Mike loads and have no complaints. Had 1 issue and it was sorted out in a fast professional manner.

As has been said every company no matter how big or small will make a mistake at some point. I used to work for Scotlands largest motor factors and I know how many mistakes happened on a regular basis, the amount of garages I went to with blocked ramps due to our **** ups was unacceptably large.

I have used others who have a great reputation on these forums and have had issues that I consider to be unacceptable. I think that audibits gets a bit unfair treatment on the forums.
