    S2 Respray

    Folks,

Quick question. The S2 needs some paint round 2 of the arches and the plastic body moulding on the door. I was thinking of doing both sides of the car to freshen her up. Do i spend x amount on a totaly standard car or do i sell and find another in better condition than mine which has been tweaked with. My own car is 95 on a N reg 103k indigo blue pearl, heated lthr, glass pre-select s/roof,a/c,elec rear windows and fsh. I have owned her for 5 yrs. Or are most S2's now getting to the age where they need paint? Paint job i reckon will cost approx £1500 plus.

If you've got a good car then get that sorted, you're very unlikely to find a good car nowadays that requires zero bodywork.

Re-spray. People always think that having your car not have standard paint is a bad thing! If you take it to a proper bodyshop and pay decent money (that doesn't mean the most though) you should get a finish the same as factory if not better.

Yeh - i found the same, my S2 underneath was a mess, not like older audi 100 and vw passat i had at the same time. to say it was galvanised was a joke. took a year off the road and total strip down to get it sorted. I've spent £6k in parts getting it right but it now drives like a NEW car and the handling is sublime.....

Mines due for some work when i get back from the 'ring.

I agree with Rustys comments about it being hard if not impossible to find an S2 with perfect bodywork, regardless of spec.

Respray definately. pearl indigo is a lovely colour IMHO and you have some rare options there and relatively low mileage - as said finding a mint example is nigh-on improssible.
