Potholes - Claiming for knacked wheel & Tyre

    Hi Guys....

Anyone got any insight into the procedure of how to claim from council's?

The wife was driving home tonight after picking up our daughter from her mothers and drove into a massive pothole in her Fiesta ST and it's wrecked both the wheel & alloy...
    I guess it's gonna cost a good £300 to £450.00 to get a replacement...

    Any advice would be appreciated...

Will post some piccys in a bit....

They will want to see the wheel and tyre. They will give you % for the tyre as they will look at how much it is warn, say there is 4mm left in the tyre they will give you 50% of the cost of a new one. Oh and good luck!
Just some finishing touches to do now

          I fully expect a battle....

But I will not give in... I pay £2200.00 in council tax & road tax on 6 cars.... So i don't expect to have to pay out for this...

I'm in no way defending the government here (if you could call the slimey bas**rds that :corey, but you don't now pay Road Tax (Road Fund Licence).
It was once many moons ago, a tax to help pay for the building of and upkeep of, said road network.
When roads didn't improve, the electorate asked, why?

Reply? easy, it's now Vehicle Excise Duty and not a tax to pay for roads. Like it or lump it. Time to vote labour and the unelected one eyed idiot out.

Hope you get some compensation Ken, that's a serious hole.

With regards to claiming, I read on a website so don't quote me that councills and bus comapnies use a huge law firm (that I cant remember) and their motto is to fight to the death! Reasuring eh?

The problem is that they will play every card not to pay out. Even though we pay road tax, council tax and every other form of tax. You pay when you die dont you?!

So, good luck on your quest. I ride gsxr 1000 bike and have buckled the rear wheel through pot holes and the times I could have had a issue with those caves in the road, well....

                      All the best!

Yes I too have read/seen similar comments.... But I can be just as nasty and will use every tactic possable to make my claim and get my money back...

I can't afford to waiste £400.00 on a non essential repair, that I pay good money for someone to maintain the said item, in the first place... I also have a contact in the local BBC TV show and will use him if I have too aswell as the local press and my MP...

If they can claim for a "Duck House or Moat Repair" I can claim for a knacked alloy & tyre!!
