anyone know the Audi 2.6 engine?

I'm thinking of buying an old 2.6 A6 to use as a donor car and swap some bits around with mine.

The one i'm looking at has only done 89k miles and apparently got a FSH.

Is there anything on these that I should be looking out for? Apprently the timing belt was done at 75k.

Timing belt.... Fell into this trap last year. Owner before one I bought from had the timing belt done but the ****wit didn't renew the tensioner. That was a 2.8 engine but same setup as 2.6V6. Otherwise a smooth understressed engine which should do big miles with ease.

Cheers. Is there any way of telling whether the timing belt's been done properly? Anything to listen out for/check etc?

All you can try to do is remove cam covers to see if tensioner looks fresh... Or just budget for doing the belt and tensioner again yourself to be sure. Interference engine so bends valves, soils underwear and ruins lives when it goes wrong.
