Creak / Click / Clunk - Door hinge? Top Mount?

I've got a bit of a noise coming from the car and I can't work it out.

Basically, at low speeds there's a noise that's really annoying me, it's not consistent but seems to be when travelling slowly and pressing the brakes hard and then accelerating again. Poor description but it's a funny one.

I had hoped it was the ball joint that I've just replaced for the MOT (temporary GSF item) but it's not.

I've greased the wishbones a little and checked the torque on the subframe bolts, can't get to the wishbone bolts but the arm seemed well held when doing the BJ change.

The only thing I can find is a clunk on the door hinge but that takes a bit of work to get it to make any noise.

    Overall, odd.

    Any ideas?

Top mount? They're new Pro Mounts. I'll get some grease on them later on, see if that's the badger but I'm not holding my breath.

Anyone any ideas on door hinge noise

No, not that, I've had that before and it's more of a boing than a creak

hmm strange alright. can you 'feel' the noise through the pedal box/floor etc or not? I used to get that when the wishbone bushes were toast and tended to do it only when it was wet outside.

Sure its not a broken heat shield, they can transmit sounds all over the shop if they touch the downpipe etc

I think it's the door hinge, there is some movement there. I've applied some white grease to the top mounts, door hinge (coated in the stuff) and a few other places, see how that goes.

If it helps my passenger door rattles but its a very solid clunk when it happens. You would have to hit a speed ramp too hard or suddenly bottom out the suspension to hear it. Normal driving there isnt a squeak out of it.

The spring is knackered on that door hinge so i'm fairly sure thats why. Which reminds me i must fit the new hinge i bought years ago

Wishbone bushes seem fine and don't creak when you rock the car... They're about 10-15k old and seem to be tight.

I've covered the hinge in white grease and waggled it about a bit, see if it's something that can be fixed with a bit of lube

Shot in the dark, but how about your brake pads? Low speed means you can hear the noise, braking moves pads forward in the callipers, accelerating away moves them back.

Are the sticky vibration pads working ok?

Could be that but it's a larger noise than I'd expect. The brake discs and pads are new and seem to be working fine, the callipers are a few years old tho
