Shocked, exhausted, hosed, bushed, dumped, chipped, mounted, filtered, gauged, packed, intermittantly wiped and braked. I mean broken. Now, about the car...

bend over and use plenty of lube

Seriously though. I find companies can be really funny about returns and not even coinsistant. For example HD caddies purchased from a supplier, returned because they had illegal mains leads, shipped back to me as nff(no fault found) sent back in box with 3" high lettering 'look at the mains leads you moron!'

The same supplier has in the past accepoted things back that I've thought twice about sending back and recalled stuff I didnt know was bad.

Having worked in a returns dept there is a tendancy to do the minimum possible to verify that a fault is present. With some electrical goods its as simple as 'does it turn on and not throw the breaker?'

Go back to the lab, describe the symptoms, get the two to talk if need be and mnake sure its been tested right. Theres always the risk that part will end up on another car and damage your employers rep .

Have a word with your line manager too, see what he/she says.
