044 pump fitting problem

the tank does not need to come out. All you need is the correct parts for the basket that holds the pump and a small modification on the basket.Other than that its a straight fit.MAke sure that the tank is almost empty otherwise you will be splirting gasoline all over your hands!

Is there a thread with the exact part numbers for fitting one to an RS2 availible? I will order the parts asap, and get it done this week while my silver rs2 is on my drive! :-)

maybe worth a look in there.

i heard all sorts like its straight in with the rs2 bit on an avant or you need an rs2 line.

id advise to build the pump into a new reservoir so you don thaver to butcher the existing one. they you can revert to previous if something doesn't fit.

If anybody needs the fuel line for an Avant, I have one. bought it when fitting 044 pump to my Coupe, didn't realise I didn't need it.

Got this sorted today, thanks again Ben for the part number

Worth noting you will have to change the eye connectors on the loom as the studs on the 044 pump are larger. New nuts/washers required too.

The RS2 fuel line is longer than the original however it is exactly the same length as a coupe. Since i had all the coupe bits from a scrap yard i used the coupe wiring loom, fitted new connectors and tie wrapped it to the fuel line to keep things nice and tidy.

Everything went together perfectly however after filling the car with fuel i found the gauge stops a little over 3/4 full. I suspect the new fuel line is in the way preventing the float from raising fully. Probably an easy fix but i cant do anything about it with a full tank

I want to buy one today locally, maybe GSF, Euro car Parts or Brown Brothers, just want to be sure I get the right one.
