Just nipped backto the shop at lunchtime to pick up a few tools for my next job. Outside is controlled parking but figuring Id only be as long as it takes to run out the back and take a drill pack off the charger I parked outside.
Walking back through the shop I witness a brand new focus being badly paralell parked. Realiseing shes come in way to fast I watch the inevitable as she ploughs into the back bumper of the 100, and then keeps trying to back up. Theres a really masty crunch sound and at this point she has shifted almost 2 ton of 100 avant against its handbrake along the road. At this point i'm out the door as she tries to pull away. Two things stopped her. Me banging on her bonnet with a drill power pack and the fact her car is now firmly anchored to the 100.
After copius effign and blinding and ordering me out of the way she is informed to stop her car, get out and talk to me or I call the police. Begrudgingly she does.
The towball on the 100 is about 6" into her car, both bumpers touching. So with a little work me and my neighbour seperate the carsto discover a 6" hole in her number plate and bumper, and not even a scratch on the 100.
Her respose was priceless:
'Thats how they teach people to park in the states, its what bumpers are for'
She was informed that this is b?????s, that I hold a north american licence and she isnt in the states right now.
Steve took me away at this point because I was getting pretty close to putting that drill pack in a place it wasnt meant to go.
I have taken so many bumps and knocks to both cars parked out there, and I have to say the few times I've seen it happen its been the old folk that cant see over the steering wheel. Normally in brand new cars covered in scuffs and scratches. Ok the chavs are annoying but they either grow up or kill themselves. For sheer disrespect of others cars you cant beat a 70 year old codger that never even took a driving test.
Right, I feel better for that
