The part is used on the S4/S6 (C4 chassis).
That's the temp sensor for the climate control in the middle.Comment

Looks to me like the coolant temperature sensor which is fitted in the heater coolant circuit on (LHD) cars fitted with digital climate control.

Oh & BTW the retaining clip as shown in the photo is not fitted correctly. As shown in the photo it won't do anything of use and the sensor will blow out under pressure from the coolant.
